18 yrs + others denied fair right to vote denied-BC PR referendum: Stre...
I'm very concerned that the very many youth and new voters who have qualified to vote since the last election, plus 18 year olds and other new voters e.g. new citizens and new residents who did not know about the vote and were all easy to find and mail, like most of the street people and shelter populations - all citizens - were not told of this vote in any serious fashion nor were polling places made more available to them.
This is the first time in British Columbia history that 18 year olds can vote in a provincial vote and it's crucial to their future... as all I've spoken to do realize once they know it's about their future and they weren't informed about it, nor even KNEW THEY COULD VOTE IN IT. Those that now know understand why they were not told and will be acting accordingly and ... I hope flashmobbing Services BCs with their IDs to get their ballots and vote..... I hope Mr Horgan's monkeys printed enough ballot for the huge numbers of new youth and new citizen and new residents voters... as the province has grown considerably since the supposed "voters list" was defined, and someone please calculate how many turned 18..... and will by the the end of the month.
They, and the new citizens and some from the States and other countries see what's wrong with this.... Canadian media are complicit in treating it as normal. It's not.... other than in the US..... in the old days all you needed was your DL and if somewhere no one at the polling station knew you, proof of birth or residence or citizenship.
Nobody got preferential treatment and everyone was made aware of the vote.
New youth voters and new citizens were denied the right to a fair vote on their future. By design, and I don't think all that unconscious.... not at all.
Rather sickening, and many people agree and are shocked. How many votes have been suppressed in the new-voter population?
Please listen - and act.
I'm also extremely concerned and angry that the 18 year old daughter of a Sikh woman I met on the 640 from the ferry to Scott Rd Skytrain was told BY ELECTIONS BC that she could not vote until next year.... I told her to report that to her local MLA (rather obviously not EBC, which she implicitly understood would be pointless to report it to... or hm maybe should have said the cops.... but RCMP do little...though ultimately Surrey City Cops will someday.
That her daughter is Sikh bothers me all the more... do kids at all Elections BC get told that? I guess you can't know a youth's ethnic background so it's probably not that...
more like youth really aren't wanted to vote, as it's known they'll vote for PR... and most likely the Greens (like everyone else).
I need some rest, please watch this, I may add further comments later.
